Corey Holcomb

I saw Corey Holcomb on Comedy Central a little ways back. I don't feel like writing anything tonight, so I figured I'd put him up instead.

Raf Simons Fall 2009

As I alluded to in the last post, Raf Simons's Fall '09 collection is gorgeous. It's by far the most masculine show to come out of Fashion Week. Even the contrasting sleeves are handsome on some of the jackets. I'm not feeling those oversized sleeves on the overcoats though, they're just obnoxious.

...And I Was Mad When Thom Browne Started Selling

What the fuck?! Comme Des Garcons showed this little number last week. I can't believe my eyes. I don't care if it was in Paris, this is wrong. If you're a transvestite, that's fine, do your thing, but don't put some shit out in a men's collection that's clearly not for men. I mean god damn. I'm at a loss for words.

At least Raf Simon is still making clothes for men.

Proof That Taste Doesn't Equal Talent: Kanye West x Louis Vuitton

Now I'm fully ready to eat my words if the rest of these shoes turn out to be great, but as of now I'm thoroughly disappointed with what I've seen of Kanye West's five design collaboration with Louis Vuitton. You couldn't pay me to put these things on. I regularly visit Kanye's blog, and I like a lot of the shit he puts up there but sometimes I think he may just be posting things because they're expensive, and I can't see any other reason somebody would be interested in this sneaker. I mean, take away the fact that it'll retail for more than $200, and you've got a payless shoe on your hands.

The most interesting part about the above design is the fact that somebody went ahead and found a way to ruin boat shoes. Don't get me wrong, I don't really fuck with boat shoes in the first place, but god damn you didn't have to throw that puffy shit on the back like that. It looks out of place.

And before you jump to that classic "you're just hating on Kanye" bullshit, know that I'm not. I have nothing personal against him. I listen to his music, it's good as hell. But you gotta know when to stop supporting somebody just because you like him or his music, and let him know that what he's doing is ugly... as though he'll ever read this.

Thanks Hypebeast and Mr. West

New Gourmet Shoes

Gourmet Shoes is coming out with some new styles for this year. If you know Gourmet so far, they've basically been simplified Jordans. This collection is supposed to mark a departure from that copycat style to a more independent, still simple and clean, style. If the above shoes are any indication of the rest of the collection, we've got some good sneakers coming our way.

You can still see a little resemblance to some classic Jordans (XI), but with the zipper and clean leather body, these have an outstanding new look.

Wooden Three Finger Ring

Sick. I swear I thought of something like this a few months ago.

$90 by Metsa Design in Toronto.

Thanks Hypebeast

LRG

LRG, or Lifted Research Group is getting weak, fast. Apart from a few cool designs every season, LRG is turning into one of the weakest brands out. Don't misunderstand me, a few years ago all you could catch me in was LRG, they were new and had some of the hottest shit I'd ever seen. I remember when they dropped the LRG Sidekick 2 I almost switched to T-Mobile to get it, except I was a broke kid then. I was a broke-ass LRG fiend.

Now LRG seems to be the broke-ass ones. Now I'm not sure if all their designers quit, or if they really think this is the direction they should be taking their brand, but I can't see myself getting back into LRG any time soon.

Everybody Knows by John Legend - music video

John Legend is definitely one of my favorite artists, and Everybody Knows is an incredible song, but I'm not sure yet how I feel about this video. I'll have to watch it a few more times. Lemme know what you think.

Jaydiohead

Jay-Z x Radiohead mashed by Minty Fresh Beats.

I'd say this is the dopest mash-up I've heard in a while, if not the dopest ever. Get up on it. Some of the tracks (8 and 10) don't make much sense to me, and the timing on the last (tenth) track, sounds a little wrong, but I'd still put it in the top 5 mash-ups I've heard.

Jaydiohead

P.S.- Much love to the Dj for putting it all in one place. I think I speak for us all when I say that we get tired of chasing things around zShare all day.
